GCSE review of marks and clerical checks

We have changed the way we charge

In the past we charged by subject, so you paid the same fee for a review of a candidate's English Literature (one paper) as you did for a review of a candidate's French (up to four papers).
We have now made our pricing structure fairer and more transparent so that:

  • GCSE is charged by component – not by subject
  • you only pay for the components you want reviewed
  • it will be easier for you to calculate the cost of a request and thus to accurately inform parents.
AQA does not charge for:
  • any mark review or clerical check which leads to a change of specification grade/module grade. You will be charged if there is no grade change
  • a review of moderation where your centre marks are re-instated. In all other cases, the full review of moderation fee will be charged whether or not specification grades or module grades change
  • stage 1 and stage 2 appeals which you win.

Fees will always be charged when scripts are requested separately via Access to Scripts.

  1. ELC and Key Skills Level 1 and Level 2 are not included in Access to Scripts.
  2. Priority review of marking cannot be requested for VRQ units.
  3. If the centre cohort consists of five or fewer candidates, the re-moderation fee will be half the normal rate.
  4. Access to Scripts photocopy is only available for GCE. It is for use when a centre wants to see a script to decide whether to ask for a review of marking. Those wanting a Priority review of marking, however, should not ask for a script photocopy as it will arrive too late to request a Priority review.
