There's just one week left for teachers to nominate two of their students for the life-changing AQA Unlocking Potential mentoring programme.
AQA Unlocking Potential is aimed at young people aged 14 to 19 who have overcome personal challenges. The programme is run jointly with the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust. Now in its seventh year, the programme is once again looking to develop the skills, confidence, motivation and self-belief of a new group of young people.
The programme brings together young people and athlete mentors who have competed at world-class sporting events – including the Olympics and Paralympics – and aims to motivate and inspire young people to discover and develop their strengths and to make the most of their potential, whatever direction that takes them in.
Those selected will receive dedicated support from inspiring role models, and the mentors have an opportunity to pass on how they have overcome challenges and succeeded in life. Over an eight-month period, they will work in groups and in one-to-one sessions with their mentors, to plan and deliver a social action project which benefits their local community.
