The awards recognize outstanding performance in GCSE examinations, chosen from nearly 3 million AQA entries.
The event was held on 25 October at One Great George Street, London, and once again proved a very enjoyable occasion for the winners and their guests, as well as the school/college representatives and AQA colleagues attending.
The GCSE Student of the Year, Katie Hall, received a trophy, in addition to the silver medal she had already won for coming top in the Humanities group of subjects. Katie, from Teesside High School, achieved 12 A* GCSEs, all taken at a single sitting this year.
As well as her medal and trophy, Katie also received a cheque for £250 and a Student of the Year diploma for her and her school.
The event was co-sponsored by AQA and Nelson Thornes.
The awards were presented by Sue Rogers, Chair of AQA, and Linden Harris, Managing Director of Nelson Thornes.
The 19 top performing students each received a solid silver medal to recognize their achievements, together with a framed diploma.
