Young people chosen for AQA Unlocking Potential 2017/18

Monday 6 Nov 2017

The young people who’ll participate in the 2017/18 AQA Unlocking Potential mentoring programme have been selected.

Our judging panel, consisting of AQA senior staff and representatives from the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust – including a member of their youth working group and an athlete mentor – met in London on 2 November to pick the students for this year’s programme.

AQA Unlocking Potential is a life-changing mentoring programme for students aged 14–19 years, led by world-class athletes. The programme is targeted at young people facing challenging personal circumstances, whom their teachers believe would benefit considerably from additional support.

The programme, run in partnership with the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust, received over 100 nominations from across the country and from a variety of different schools. We were very impressed by the high quality and this made the final selection very difficult.

Congratulations to all the successful schools – you’ll hear from us in due course about what happens next.

For all those that haven’t been selected this time, we thank you for the time and effort you put into your applications. As much as we’d like to select everyone, unfortunately it’s just not possible – but we hope you’ll nominate again for next year’s programme.
