Our funding
We are an independent company, limited by guarantee (registration number 3644723) and a charity (registration number 1073334).
Our activities are not for profit and our sole income (apart from any investments) is from fees for our assessment services.
Any surplus is re-invested into specification development, research and examination administration.
AQA's major sources of operational income are examination fees, post-results services and publications.
Our turnover is currently about £130 million per year.
Our fees are set by the Finance Committee, which includes Headteachers and Principals who are aware of the financial pressure on schools and colleges. We try to keep our fees as low as possible, whilst still enabling us to provide an excellent service.
