What are Basic Skill qualifications?

Basic Skills – Adult Literacy and Adult Numeracy

  • These adult literacy and numeracy qualifications are not approved for use pre-16. Students on post-16 full-time programmes are more likely to work towards Key Skills qualifications.
  • Level 1 and Level 2 in the National Qualifications Framework.
  • Basic Skills qualifications are available in Adult Literacy and Adult Numeracy at either Level 1 or Level 2 of the National Qualifications Framework.
  • AQA also offers Entry Level Certificates in Adult Literacy and Adult Numeracy.

How are they assessed?

  • External assessment test of 40 objective test questions.
