Examiner and moderator requirements

The work of an examiner or moderator is responsible and demanding but also rewarding and must be carried out within a tight timetable. The marking/moderating takes place over a period of 3-4 weeks during the relevant examination period. The exact dates, and the number of scripts or samples of coursework to be marked, vary between subjects.

The work of an adviser spans the Autumn and Spring Terms, with a focus on providing support and guidance for teachers about coursework or portfolios.

You should normally have at least 3 terms' recent teaching experience by the time of the marking; you will need more than this this for moderating or for senior posts. You should have appropriate academic qualifications in the subject(s) concerned, and experience of teaching the subject(s) at the level you would mark. You will not normally be appointed to mark more than one paper in the same series of examinations.
