How face-to-face training is delivered

At our venues across England

Use our course finder to browse all current courses and events, and filter by location. We carefully plan our schedules to make sure they're easy to access for as many people as possible.

Your booking confirmation email will tell you where the course is taking place, or if we don’t yet have this information we will let you know as soon as the venue is confirmed. Please note that venues are subject to change.

These courses include tea, coffee and lunch (with a vegetarian option). If you have any special dietary or mobility requirements, please let us know when you book.

In your school or college

In-school sessions are a flexible way to train and can be delivered in various venues, including:

  • your school/college
  • a cluster/consortium/federation of schools/colleges/MATs
  • a Local Education Authority
  • overseas schools/colleges

You can arrange a session for just a few or for many: from a small group of teachers or managers to a whole department – you can even invite teachers from other schools to attend your in-school training to make it more cost-effective. The recommended maximum number of delegates for a session is 30, although additional trainers can be provided on request for larger groups. All we ask is that you prepare a room big enough to accommodate everyone who’s attending.

In-school training sessions can be either a full day (approx. 5 hours) or half day/ twilight (approx. 2.5 hours). These are charged on a sliding scale dependent upon the number of delegates present – see the Prices section below for detail.

Timings are flexible to suit your needs: you can agree your start and finish times with your trainer to fit around your teaching commitments, and you can also incorporate refreshment breaks.

Course content and format

Our face-to-face training aims to fully support your training needs, however there are a few activities our trainers cannot undertake, including:

  • review of, or commenting on, your candidates’ scripts for any past examination series
  • support sessions for your students
  • marking of, or guidance on, your candidates’ coursework, portfolio or controlled assessment work
  • a review of moderated coursework

In-school training sessions re-deliver AQA national courses, and so the course content is exactly the same. Due to the need for compliance, unfortunately we are not able to provide any type of consultation (such as viewing your students’ work) nor offer a bespoke session.

For a session focused on assessment, where appropriate, the trainer will use exemplar material.

Please note that Ofqual do not allow Lead Assessment Writers or Chief Examiners, nor any other senior examiners who have access to confidential materials, to be present at any training event. None of our trainers are involved with setting future examination papers.

All our events are recorded for training and monitoring purposes.
