Policy on attending coursework standardisation meetings
Annual standardisation meetings for coursework are usually held in the autumn term.
Mandatory attendance
Centres entering candidates for the first time must send a representative to one of the meetings.
Attendance is also mandatory if:
- there has been a serious misinterpretation of the specification requirements,
- the nature of the coursework tasks set by a centre has been inappropriate, or
- a significant adjustment has been made to a centre's marks in the previous year's examination.
Centres in these categories will normally be contacted to attend.
Voluntary attendance
Other reasons why you might want to attend a coursework standardisation meeting are for example, if there has been a change of teacher or a need for continuing professional development e-mail us and we will send you details of the nearest available meeting.
Exceptions
There are some exceptions to these arrangements.
Centres must send a representative to a coursework standardisation meeting every year for :
- GCSE Drama
- GCSE English
- GCSE Expressive Arts
For GCSE ICT Specification A, all centres are invited each year due to the year-specific set-assignment material.
