AQA Baccalaureate (Bacc)

An innovative approach empowering students to demonstrate both academic ability and wider learning and skills

Graduating students face ever-increasing challenges in highly competitive environments for opportunities in both employment and higher education.

To be successful, it is essential for them to develop and demonstrate the important skills of self-management, planning, research and presentation alongside their academic ability.

These skills can be effectively strengthened and illustrated with the AQA Bacc. Students build on their core A-level subjects, adding value through wider learning and enrichment activities, demonstrated through project work and independent study.

Students can complete a Bacc based on GCE A-levels awarded by one or more awarding bodies to achieve a grade of Pass, Merit or Distinction.

In September 2007 the Bacc will be trialled with around 50 pilot centres, preceding a full launch in conjunction with the start of teaching of new GCEs in September 2008.
