New GCEs for 2008

GCE Physical Education (2580)

Introducing AQA's new course specification for Physical Education for AS and A Level. This new redrafted specification has been designed to:

  • address current contemporary topics in sport
  • equip students with skills and knowledge for entrance into higher education or into the world of work
  • maintain the academic rigour of this subject
  • build on the student’s experience from key Stage 4 and GCSE to enhance their knowledge and increase their understanding of the factors that affect performance and participation
  • streamline coursework assessment to reduce the burden on centres, teachers and students.

The following information and specification outline will enable both practising Teachers and Subject Heads to be better informed and supported in the teaching of this subject, particularly if attending one of AQA's Teacher Support meetings.
