Changes to Internal Assessment

We have listened to comment from teachers regarding internal assessment at the initial series of the launch meetings and taken the issues forward with QCA. We have now reworked the specification to create an additional, AQA-marked, route for Units 3 and 6 and believe this will provide the maximum flexibility to teachers and students.

The alternatives are:

Route T – the unaltered PSA/ISA system which is teacher marked
Route X – a new scheme of assessment involving a Practical Skills Verification (PSV) by the teacher, and an Externally Marked Practical Assignment (EMPA), taken at a centre's convenience and marked by AQA.
