Teachers' Guides
A Teacher's Guide is available in this subject. A copy has been sent all registered AQA examination centres. Further printed copies can be purchased from AQA Publications Department. These Guides are not available on-line.
The Guide contains:
- A tracing of the links between the new specification and the syllabus from which it has been developed which is the AQA(NEAB) Biology Advanced Level Syllabus
- A section on the structure of the new specification, with particular reference to the structure of the specification and the nature of the synoptic assessment
- An exploration of the assessment issues with an analysis of the terms used in the questions in the unit tests
- Further advice on the synoptic essay
- Advice on coursework issues and in particular the difference between the nature of the coursework required for AS and for A2
- Advice about the format for investigations, assessment criteria for them and example investigations for both AS and A2

- A section on how the specification can be used to deliver the main key skills
