This specification is being replaced by Computing for first teaching from September 2008.
Candidates for AS units in January 2009 and subsequent exams must follow the new specification.
Coursework standardisation
- Dates for coursework standardisation meetings are generally published on the AQA Website in September.
- Meetings are usually held between October and January and are free of charge.
- Centres are also usually notified in writing.
- If you are teaching this specification for the first time, please contact us to ensure that you are invited.

Delphi 7 Professional
AQA recognises that centres and their candidates must have appropriate resources to teach/study the structured programming and object-oriented areas of the AS/A GCE Computing specification successfully.
To this end, a continuation of the special rate for AQA centres has been negotiated with Borland for their product Delphi 7 Professional. This is considered to be the best programming paradigm for teaching both structured programming and object-oriented programming with its Pascal ancestry, a language designed for the purpose of teaching structured programming. With in-built support for connecting to Microsoft Access databases through both ADO components and ODBC, Delphi lends itself easily to database project work. The user interface of the IDE is user-friendly and not overly complicated. Current textbooks are compatible with this user interface but not with the very latest version of Delphi.
