Teachers' Guides

A Teacher's Guide is available in this subject. A copy has been sent all registered AQA examination centres. Further printed copies can be purchased from AQA Publications Department. These Guides are not available on-line.

The Guide contains:

  • A section outlining the links between this specification and the AQA (AEB) syllabus in Advanced Level Theatre Studies from which it has been developed
  • An outline of how the specification can be fitted into a variety of curriculum models
  • A look at how synoptic assessment is addressed in units 4 and 6
  • An exploration of assessment issues, and an outline of the content of each of the externally assessed units
  • Advice on how to prepare students for assessment in these areas along with some examples of the question styles that are used
  • Advice on the teaching of practical skills and the issues arising from the practical units, dealing with issues such as group size, content, text choices and support for teachers
  • Advice about course delivery suggesting how to approach modular assessment, approaches to subject content and a series of schemes of work which have been designed to fit into varied models of delivery
  • Some teaching approaches to the set texts and practitioners
  • Suggestions for plays suitable for production for unit 4
  • A general resource list
  • Finally there is a section which outlines how the specification can be used in the delivery of the main key skills
