Teachers' Guides

A Teacher's Guide is available in this subject. A copy has been sent all registered AQA examination centres. Further printed copies can be purchased from AQA Publications Department. These Guides are not available on-line.

The Guide contains:

• An exploration of some links between the specification and the AQA(NEAB ) Advanced level Geography syllabus Curriculum models and an exploration of how the specification looks at synopticity through the assessment of unit 5
• A consideration of assessment issues including a look at command words as they are used in the question papers, and an exploration of approaches to questions in general
• An exploration of Coursework issues including a look at the management of coursework, title choice and the teacher's role in the supervision of coursework. A document which is written for the student is reproduced here and can be issued to students as guidance when they are embarking on investigations
• Advice on the delivery of the course and schemes of work with detailed advice about relating content to skills
• A resource list with suggestions for text books relevant for several sections of the specification
• A section on how the specification can be used to deliver the main key skills
