The Guide contains:

• A look at the specification at a glance and a summary of the assessment pattern. Several curriculum models are proposed and there is a look at how synoptic assessment is addressed in units 5 and 6
• A look at content and assessment issues with an analysis of the language used in the assessment units
• An analysis of the subject content for each module with advice about how to teach the topics within each module in order to adequately prepare students for assessment
• An analysis of the type of questions which will appear on the assessment units and some detail about how students are expected to respond
• Advice about teaching time and some suggested schemes of work for the modules
• A section on coursework issues which includes advice about coursework planning and assessment and in particular about the synoptic assignment
• Advice about course delivery, accompanied by a scheme of work for the course as a whole
• A resource list in which are suggested text books for the course as a whole and some website addresses
• A section on how the specification can be used to deliver the main key skills
