How to join functional skills pilots
In line with QCA's instructions to all assessment boards (received 1 April 08):
- Please note that recruitment for year 1 of the pilot is now closed.
- Participation in the Functional Skills pilot phase for 2008/09 will be limited – the pilot size cannot increase beyond the nominated Diploma centres plus the adult learner cohorts.
- Successful Phase 2 Diploma consortia have now been advised that they must confirm their nominated centres for the FS pilot to QCA and they expect to have the finalised list by the end of April 08.
- Each new consortium must make three firm nominations to take part in the functional skills pilot for 2008/9 (unless they have 5 or less Diploma centres in their consortia in which case they must have at least one centre participating in the Functional Skills pilot). Larger consortia will be offered extra FS pilot places based on the size of the consortia and will be informed of that shortly by DCSF. These centres are, in the main, additional to the Phase 1 Diploma consortia centres.
If your centre has been nominated by a Consortium successful in completing the Gateway requirements for teaching the Diploma from September 2008 and you wish to work with us in these pilots, please complete and return these form/s.
The functional Mathematics pilot is being taken forward within the AQA 14 – 19 Curriculum Pathways Project.
