Past question papers and mark schemes

We publish question papers and mark schemes on our website about 9 months after the exams. They are deleted three years later.

Some papers can't be put on the web for copyright reasons – but you can usually buy printed copies for three years after the exams.

For more detailed information, see our Publication policy pages.

November 2007

June 2007

March 2007

November 2006

  • Objective Tests are half hour multiple choice tests, very similar in composition to the previous module tests
  • They are available three times a year in November, March and June: view timetable.
  • Objective Tests are only available in GCSE Science A
  • There are two types of question; one type in Section One of the paper and another type in Section Two of the paper.

The style and numbering of Section B (Two) questions has been changed since the specimen materials were first published.

Example of new style (reference Unit B1a):

9A       What was the control variable in this experiment?

    1. the distance moved by the hammer
    2. the distance moved by the toe
    3. the number of frames
    4. the speed of the hammer

    9.2 will become 9B, 9.3 will become 9C and 9.4 will become 9D

The specimen assessment materials and mark schemes booklet has been replaced to help centres prepare candidates for the first tests in November 2006.

  • Candidates can sit more than one Objective Test at the same sitting.
They can even sit all six Objective Tests on the same day.
