Why AQA GCSE Computer Science and IT?

Our GCSE Computer Science and ICT qualifications provide clear progression for all your students, both from the programme of study at Key Stage 3 and onwards to AS and A-levels, apprenticeships or the workplace. When developing our new GCSE Computer Science, we worked with teachers and other key industry influencers to develop a qualification that will engage and inspire all your students, while giving them a strong platform of practical skills on which to build. It will build on the strengths of our current GCSE qualifications and sit alongside our existing ICT qualifications.

  • We’ll be here to support you in teaching GCSE Computer Science, whether you’re an experienced Computer Scientist or are new to teaching the subject
  • There will be a range of free resources to help you plan and deliver your course.
  • You’ll be able to access our range of professional development to support your teaching
  • We’ll be taking forward best practice from across our range of qualifications to provide assessment you can trust and it’s our priority to ensure students’ work is marked fairly, consistently and reliably.

The Department for Education announced on 3 November 2015 that GCSE ICT cannot be redeveloped under government changes to GCSEs. We are developing a Technical Award in IT (equivalent to a single GCSE) for first teaching in 2017. Sign up for updates, or find out more about the changes to GCSEs and which qualifications we are planning to offer in the future.
