English Language and Literature B (2725)

This four-unit specification helps students develop their understanding of English Language and Literature as a combined discipline. Students discover how different writers approach similar subjects and consider how language and style are affected by change over time.

The specification enables students to consider the three major literary genres – prose, poetry and drama – and a range of non-literary texts. At A2, they learn to transform an original work into a different genre or sub-genre.

Suitable for a range of students and abilities, the A-level includes a 40% coursework weighting.

A-level consultations have been launched. Find out what this means for your subject on our Changes to A-levels page.
