English Literature (IGCSE) (8710)
We have carefully considered the future of our Level 1/2 Certificates (IGCSEs) in the light of government changes to GCSEs and have decided not to develop a new L1/2 Certificate in English Literature.
The last exams for students taking the current qualifications will be in the June 2016 series and there will be no final re-sit opportunity.
As an alternative, you may like to consider our new GCSE in English Literature which is accredited for first teaching in September 2015 and is equal to the best qualifications available internationally.
Find out more about these changes and which qualifications we are planning to offer in the future. You can also contact the customer support team on the details below.
Our Level 1/2 Certificate in English Literature (IGCSE) offers you the flexibility to structure a course that best suits the needs and interests of your students.
It enables you to enhance their appreciation of literature and develop their skills in studying literary texts. It also gives students a Level 1/2 qualification equivalent to GCSE.
This qualification counts as the English measure in school performance tables from 2014 when taken with any English Language GCSE or IGCSE. The specification complements the AQA Certificate in English Language (IGCSE).
This is a linear qualification assessed by two exams, or one exam and coursework (which makes up 40 per cent of the assessment). There is no controlled assessment.
This specification is particularly suitable for students who are comfortable with independent learning and who want to go on to study A-level English. There are no prior learning requirements.
IGCSE is the registered trade mark of University of Cambridge International Examinations.
