Our Home Economics courses provide students with the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of human needs in a diverse society and to work in a variety of contexts.
Our specifications offer students an interesting and stimulating programme of study. They introduce students to key concepts and topics that are relevant and transferable to other settings.
The Child Development specification offers progression for students who have previously studied the Entry Level Certificate.
Both GCSE specifications provide progression to A-level Health and Social Care, enhance career opportunities and also provide a satisfying course of study for those who may not wish to continue with further study of the subject.
Ofqual announced on 14 May 2015 that GCSE Home Economics: Child Development cannot be redeveloped under government changes to GCSEs. We are developing a Technical Award in Children's Learning and Development (equivalent to a single GCSE) for first teaching in 2017. Sign up for updates, or find out more about changes to GCSEs and which qualifications we are planning to offer in the future.
