Information and Communication Technology (4520)
The Department for Education announced on 3 November 2015 that GCSE ICT cannot be redeveloped under government changes to GCSEs.
Our regulator Ofqual currently state that, with the exception of re-sits, the last time students will be able to sit exams in ICT will be in summer 2018.
Ofqual are still consulting on the availability of re-sits. We expect them to be available in summer 2019 (but this will be restricted to students who have previously certificated).
We are developing a Technical Award in IT (equivalent to a single GCSE) for first teaching in 2017. Sign up for updates, or find out more about changes to GCSEs and which qualifications we are planning to offer in the future.

The Full Course is made up of one externally assessed examination worth 40 per cent of the qualification and two controlled assessment units worth 30 per cent each.
The Short Course is made up of one externally assessed examination worth 40 per cent of the qualification and one controlled assessment unit worth 60 per cent.
