Bengali (2635)

We're pleased to announce our plans to continue offering A-level Bengali, subject to agreeing appropriate content requirements with the Department for Education (DfE).

The last exams for students taking the current AS and A-levels will be June 2019, with a final re-sit opportunity in June 2020.

Subject to agreeing appropriate content with the DfE and Ofqual our reformed A-level Bengali will be ready for first teaching in September 2018 with first awarding in 2020.

Find out more about these changes and which qualifications we are planning to offer in the future. You can also contact the customer support team on the details shown below.

A-level Bengali helps students develop confident, effective reading and writing skills in Bengali and an understanding of the culture of countries and communities where Bengali is spoken. It develops an awareness and understanding of the contemporary society, cultural background and heritage of countries or communities where the language is spoken.

This two-unit specification requires students to develop their ability to read and write in Bengali with accurate grammar for a range of purposes and to understand written Bengali in a variety of contexts and genres.

This course is particularly suitable for students who have studied GCSE Bengali and wish to study Bengali at a higher level.
