This GCSE requires students to complete practical assessments as well as a written exam. It is available for assessment in June only. There are no previous learning requirements.

Written Paper - 45 minutes

40 marks - 40%

Unit 2 (48902): The Active Participant (Short Course)

Controlled Assessment - 45 marks - 60%

2 assessments from 2 groups/ways of thinking: at least 1 as player/performer.

Unit 3 (48903): Knowledge and Understanding for the Active Participant (Full Course)

Written Paper - 1 hour 30 mins

80 marks - 40%

Unit 4 (48904): The Active Participant (Full Course)

Controlled Assessment - 90 marks - 60%

4 assessments from at least 2 groups/ways of thinking: at least 2 as player/performer.

Unit 3 (48903): Knowledge and Understanding for the Active Participant (Full Course)

Written Paper - 1 hour 30 mins

80 marks - 20%

Unit 4 (48904): The Active Participant (Full Course)

Controlled Assessment - 90 marks - 30%

4 assessments from at least 2 groups/ways of thinking: at least 2 as player/performer.
Unit 5 (48905): Knowledge and Understanding for the Involved Participant

Written Paper - 1 hour 30mins

70 marks - 20%

Scenario issued to centres in advance of the examination.
Unit 6 (48906): The Active Participant (Double Course)
Controlled Assessment - 90 marks - 30% 

4 assessments - including a 3rd group/way of thinking (if 3 are not already covered in Unit 4)

For assessments and subject awards after June 2013 there is a requirement that 100% of the assessment is terminal.
