AQA Teacher Support – working with you to deliver the new curriculum
We believe that producing a high quality specification is only the first step in preparing your students for exam success. So we want to make sure you have as much help and support with your teaching and exam preparation as you need.
Different support to suit your circumstances
So, if you opt to teach an AQA spec, you can expect high quality support from us over the next two years, as well as during the lifetime of the specification. We'll start with free of charge, face to face meetings, led by Senior AQA Examiners and fellow teachers of your subject. We'll offer you the opportunity to come to two of these; one as a half day introduction to the spec and the other a full day of help and advice just before you start to teach it for real.
Web based materials will also be available because we realise that not everyone is able to attend a face to face meeting.
Once the teaching of the new specs starts, we'll offer you focussed support meetings; opportunities to meet with other teachers, share ideas and be led through teaching and assessment issues by inspirational subject experts. We'll also offer you CPD courses to build up your subject expertise and skills.
Teacher Resource Banks
We recognise the importance of good, reliable, targeted resources aimed at helping you work your way through the new specification. We'll send you your own Teacher Resource Bank; a repository of useful materials which will be regularly added to and updated as the course progresses. You can look forward to receiving suggested schemes of work, examples of approaches to topics, routes through the specification for different kinds of teaching arrangements, as well as extra sample questions and examples of students' work. The Teacher Resource Bank will also complement the Nelson Thornes' Resources for teaching and learning.
Someone to talk to
We offer you a named contact point in your region, someone who is on hand to help you and your centre with all kinds of support issues, from the support available for your subject to other curriculum areas such as the Extended Project and Functional Skills assessment.
