Roderic Gillespie

As Director of Special Projects, Roderic supports and advises the Executive team by leading on projects to drive our strategy forward. He was previously Director of Qualifications and Markets with responsibility for our approach to developing and producing assessments, the support we offer to teachers and our marketing strategy.

Before joining AQA, Roderic was Chief Executive at WJEC. Prior to that he was Director of Assessment for Cambridge International and held several roles at the Scottish Qualifications Authority. He also has over a decade’s worth of experience in teaching, which includes senior management and examining roles. He started his career as a naval officer where he was heavily involved in both training and assessment.

Roderic is an experienced presenter on educational leadership to national and international audiences, and has led and been involved in a number of educational reform projects in countries around the world. He has a Masters degree in Education, a Masters degree in Educational Management and an honorary Master of Arts from the University of Cambridge, and is particularly interested in curriculum management, assessment and pedagogy.
