The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) has changed the time at which results can be released to students from 6.00am to 8.00am. This change applies to the following qualifications from Thursday 13 August 2020 and Thursday 20 August 2020:
This decision was made by the JCQ, UCAS and the Department for Education in the best interest of students. It is to make sure that students can access advice and support from schools and colleges at the time they get their results, to better support their mental health and wellbeing.
It also aligns with the opening of UCAS systems, and they have agreed that they will not confirm any university places to students until 8.00am.
You’ll still be able to access electronic results from 12.01am on Wednesday 12 August 2020 and Wednesday 19 August 2020. Please remember that all results information must remain entirely confidential and cannot be shared or discussed with other teachers, students or parents, educational institutions and local authorities, the press or any other person.
The JCQ has confirmed that releasing results to students before the 8:00am embargo is considered malpractice. Any schools or colleges who breach this requirement will lose their early electronic access to results.
The JCQ document Notice to Centres – 'release of general qualification results, June 2020 examination series' has been updated to show the change of the embargo time to 8.00am.
