An update on GCSE Music (8271/W)
Published: Wednesday 29 Jun 2022
The advance information for our GCSE Music exam (8271/W) should have listed all the genres of music that would feature in section A, but unfortunately the genre for question 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3 was missing.
To make sure students aren’t disadvantaged, we’ll be awarding everyone the full four marks for these parts of question 7.
We’re really sorry and we’re looking at why our checks didn’t pick this up.
We know some of you have also been in touch to check on the information available in the advance information for the lower mark questions in section B of the GCSE Music exam.
We can confirm that there were no mistakes in section B. The ‘Advice’ section of the advance information stated “Students and teachers should consider how to focus their revision of other non-listed study pieces for section B, which may be tested in lower mark questions.”
We hope this helps clarify the situation.
