GCSE Art and Design - five things you should know this term

Thursday 4 Jan 2018

Let’s get 2018 started. We’ve put together a list of the five key things you should know to make the most of the term ahead.

  1. Teacher standardisation
We host free, face-to-face teacher standardisation meetings throughout the country. Our senior examiners lead over 100 half-day meetings for GCSE Art and Design. Book your place.

  2. Twilight sessions
Our Twilight sessions are after-school meetings that showcase the teacher standardisation live exhibition of students’ work, with additional curriculum development sets available at the GCSE meetings. These meetings are free of charge and unlimited, so your whole department could attend together. They provide an opportunity to inform and inspire good teaching practice. To book a place, email events@aqa.org.uk.

  3. New resources on SKM
You can now find a guide to drawing, a guide to written annotation and 15 sets of exemplar standards – all available in Secure Key Materials (SKM) on e-AQA.

  4. Subject advisers
Each school is allocated a subject adviser for GCSE. You can contact them by telephone or email to receive one-to-one advice on any aspect of the subject or assessment, and/or support with planning and delivering course content. Call or email us to receive the details of your adviser.

  5. Additional resources
We’ve worked with museums and galleries to bring together a range of their free-of-charge educational resources in one easy-to-access resource. Take a look at our art and design community.
