Changes to Drama specifications – live performance

Thursday 8 Nov 2018

In January 2018 Ofqual confirmed a change to the subject content for GCSE, AS and A-level Drama.

Students certificating after 1 January 2019 must experience a live performance. This means they must be a member of the audience in the same performance space as the performers. It can be a professional or amateur performance, but not a peer performance.

For summer 2019 exams, Heads of Centre must sign the non-exam assessment, fieldwork and live performance centre declaration form to confirm that all students have completed this requirement.

Students may still complete the ‘live theatre production’ section of the exam paper, referring to the digital recordings or streamed productions.

The GCSE and AS and A-level specifications have been updated to reflect these changes.
