Changes to GCSE Religious Studies Short Course (8061) specification

Published: Thursday 18 Jun 2020

We’ve made a small change to some of the key terms in the subject content of our GCSE Religious Studies Short course (8061) specification to align these with the terms in our GCSE Religious Studies A (8062) specification.

3.1.2 Islam

3.1.2.1 Key Beliefs

  • Tawhid (the Oneness of God), Qur’an Surah 112.
  • The nature of God: omnipotence, beneficence, mercy, fairness and justice/Adalat in Shi’a Islam, including different ideas about God’s relationship with the world: immanence and transcendence.
  • Akhirah (life after death), human responsibility and accountability, resurrection, heaven and hell.

Our teaching guide explains the way terms that appear in/out of brackets can be tested and how they can be used in question stems. Our subject specific vocabulary includes definitions of these terms. The updated specification (8061) can be found on our qualifications page.
