GCSE English resources and support

Monday 2 Oct 2017

As the autumn term gets going, we want to help you make the most of our GCSE English resources and events, and help you find what you need on our website.

Planning, teaching and assessment resources

Each qualification has its own resources area, split into the following three categories:

  • Plan: here you’ll find preparing to teach materials including presentations and resources from meetings, Key Stage 3 to GCSE resources and summaries of changes
  • Teach: including further insight guides, AQA anthologies, teaching plans and access to the English e-Library
  • Assess: explore sample mark schemes, question papers and student exemplars for Paper 1 and Paper 2, plus our Enhanced Results Analysis (ERA) tool.

Choose your specification from the GCSE English qualifications page, then navigate to Plan, Teach, and Assess from each specification page.

English literature teaching packs

Check out the resources available from Teachit English, including a Lord of the Flies teaching pack. A teaching pack on Frankenstein will be added later in the autumn term.

Regional hub events

Our English hub schools are regional support networks that organise meetings giving you the chance to talk to other, local English teachers. Read more about our hub schools and book on to a meeting

Professional development and training

We've also got some great Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses available for you this term, including feedback on the summer 2017 exams.

These have been created by teaching experts to ensure they're aligned with our specifications and approach to assessment. It's also an opportunity to meet other teachers to share ideas and best practice.

Secure question papers for mock exams

Our support doesn’t end there – we keep recent question papers, mark schemes, examiner reports and additional specimen assessment materials (for mock exams) on our secure extranet: Secure Key Materials (SKM) on e-AQA.
