Global Teacher Prize – good luck to Middlesbrough science teacher Richard Spencer

Monday 9 Mar 2015

With just a week to go until the results of the first Global Teacher Prize are announced, we're wishing finalist Richard Spencer the best of luck.

Richard, a science teacher at Middlesbrough College, is one of ten finalists in the competition to find the world's best teacher. He is the only UK representative left in the running for this international prize – designed to raise the status of teaching – and is up against teachers from countries including the US, India, Kenya and Afghanistan.

Stella Paes, Head of science at AQA, said: "Middlesbrough College have worked with us on science for a number of years, so we're delighted that Richard has been short-listed for this prestigious award – fingers crossed for next week!"

Richard has a unique way of bringing his lessons to life – through song! Take a look and see how he puts it into practice in the classroom.

The winner of the Global Teacher Prize will be announced on 16 March.
