The summer term is always busy with lots going on. As we all gear up towards the exam and awarding season, things can feel challenging and confusing; we’re here to make that journey a bit easier.
To help you find what you’re looking for quickly, this update contains information and links to useful resources, events and support.
Make sure you’ve got your login for e-AQA handy, as the AS and GCSE NEA contexts will be released on 1 June. You’ll find them in the Secure Key Materials (SKM) section, under the relevant specification.
If you’re teaching GCSE Food Preparation, AS Product Design or AS Fashion and Textiles, this summer will see the first assessment of the new specifications. Be sure to a look at the specimen question papers and mark schemes on our website (under ‘Assess’ on your specification page) and on SKM for additional sets.
It’s important that students are used to answering mathematical-type questions within the relevant context of design and technology. This is especially important for students studying GCSE Design and Technology, GCSE Engineering and AS/A-level qualifications, so where possible integrate these into your teaching.
We’re running face-to-face and online events this summer term, including Getting started (great for a refresher or if you’re new to teaching the specification), and Non-exam assessment (NEA) planning, to help you effectively deliver this component with your students. You’ll also meet and network with other Design and Technology teachers as well.
