GCSE Maths: HOD Virtual Communities - Autumn 2021

Course summary

Re-establishing classroom and staff collaboration.

Covid has restricted the ability of staff and students to work in a collaborative fashion. 

This new, free virtual twilight session to the AQA Maths leadership community will share resources and techniques to help departments to work more collaboratively, as well as reintroducing more group work back into the classroom.

Participants will be able to use text and audio chat facilities in an online environment to discuss relevant topics.

We will share any relevant updates and resource developments from AQA, Teachit and Exampro.

There will be the opportunity to meet and talk with your AQA Relationship Manager who will run a short network slot after the main meeting.

Course description

The session will be led by Ian Andrews. Ian is Leader of Learning for maths at Imberhorne School in West Sussex and the Chair of Examiners for GCSE Maths and GCSE Statistics for AQA.

The session will:

  • Provide an overview of free AQA departmental CPD resources

  • Discuss ways to facilitate more collaboration within the maths
department

  • Discuss why and how to increase group work in lessons, plus
provide some resources to try
