GCSE Maths: Teacher Virtual Communities - Autumn 2021
Managing maths anxiety and engagement with problem solving.
Head of Maths at Park View School, Helen Hindle @helenhindle1, discusses resources and strategies to develop a growth mindset with KS4 pupils, and their impact on student attitudes towards and engagement in mathematics.
Helen will share approaches which she uses to increase pupils' willingness to engage in problem solving which have led her pupils to greater independence and confidence when attempting multi-step exam questions.
Helen will also discuss strategies to identify gaps in students' knowledge as a result of online learning and effective ways to address these, ensuring that all pupils are effectively supported and challenged in classes with a wide range of prior knowledge.
Participants will be able to use text and audio chat facilities in an online environment to discuss relevant topics.
There will also be the opportunity to meet and talk with your AQA Relationship Manager who will run a short network slot after the main meeting.
