Science Hub School Network - Spring 2019

Course summary

Run by an AQA science specialist, and in partnership with our hub schools, these free, local twilight sessions offer networking opportunities plus materials which you can share with your department, saving you time and ensuring a consistent teaching and learning approach.

Come along to discuss strategies, best practice and share resources with your Science community. 

Where possible please bring along your tablet or smartphone as you will be asked to fill in an electronic evaluation form at the end of the event.

Course description

The focus of this term's meeting is on preparation for the Summer 2019 GCSE exams. In the meeting we will cover the following issues:

  • Extended response questions: the types of questions we use, understanding and applying the mark scheme using student responses, sharing good practice on incorporating extended response questions into teaching and learning.
  • Mock exams: How are students coping with them compared with last year?  Are students having the same challenges as in the summer 2018 papers?  We look at MERiT data from the sample population for the paper 1s and discuss next steps to preparing students for the future.
  • Updates: introduction to Exampro Highlights
