In-school training information

If you’ve booked – or are interested in – our in-school training, here’s all the additional information you need.

Please note that in-school training sessions re-deliver AQA national courses, and so the course content is exactly the same. Due to the need for compliance, unfortunately we are not able to provide any type of consultation (such as viewing your students’ work) nor offer a bespoke session.

Next steps

Once we receive your request form, we will see which of our trainers’ expertise best fits your requirements and aim to match their availability with your preferred dates. Once the date has been agreed with the trainer, we will confirm the details via email.

At certain times of the year – such as during the exam period or at the beginning or end of term – it can be more difficult for us to arrange in-school support, so the more notice and flexibility on dates you can provide, the easier it will be to arrange your training.

If a trainer is unable to deliver training due to unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to organise an alternative trainer or to postpone or cancel the session.

What you need to do in advance

One to two weeks before the event we will ask you to email us a list of those attending.

The training materials will be sent by tracked (signed for) delivery to your venue a few days in advance – please keep these materials safe and make them available to the trainer on the day.

Lastly, please ensure that you have a suitably equipped room that will accommodate the number of delegates. Your trainer will discuss with you what they need a few days beforehand – this is usually a computer or laptop, a large screen and any cables needed to connect them.

What you need to do on the day

Please ensure the room for the session is set up appropriately for the number of delegates, including any equipment that the trainer has requested. The printed course materials that we posted to you need to be available in the room, ready for your trainer’s arrival.

All delegates are required to sign the attendance list sent out with the course materials. Additional delegates who are not on the printed list should add their name, email address and signature. The attendance list must be returned to the trainer at the end of the session as they are required to return it to AQA.

At the end of your session, delegates will be sent an email containing a link to an online evaluation form; please encourage everyone to complete this as feedback helps us to continually improve our courses.

Payment

After we have received the course attendance list from the trainer, an invoice will be sent to the school or college that made the booking. The invoice will be adjusted to account for any change in delegate numbers. If you are not linked to an AQA or DfE registered school or college, or are part of a consortium or cluster, please provide the full name and work address of the person making the booking for billing purposes. Fees are payable within 30 days of the date of the invoice.

Additional costs apply to cover flights and accommodation for trainers travelling to events at schools or colleges outside the UK.

Cancellation

If you decide not to proceed with an in-school training session, it can be cancelled at no cost to yourselves provided that the session has not already been confirmed by the email sent from our events booking system. Please note that if you cancel a booking after confirmation there will be a 10% cancellation fee to cover our costs.

Postponements and cancellations by AQA

In exceptional circumstances, it may not be possible for us to deliver an in-school training session. We reserve the right to postpone, reschedule or cancel in-school training session(s), but will endeavour to give as much notice as possible. In the event that your training session is postponed by us, we will endeavour to rearrange the visit on an alternative date that is mutually convenient for your school or college and the trainer. In the event of us cancelling the training session, a full refund of the fee will be made.

We are not responsible for any associated costs incurred by a school or college when booking a training session, nor arising from cancellation, rescheduling or postponement of a session, nor from any misunderstanding or inaccuracies arising from any information published by us.

Health and safety

We are not responsible or liable for any health and safety issues arising from the delivery of the training to the extent that is permissible by law.
