120611 FOOD PREPARATION: MAKING NAAN BREAD (UNIT 28)

1identify the equipment needed to make naan breadSummary sheet
2identify, collect and weigh or measure the ingredients needed to make naan breadSummary sheet
3put warm water into a bowl, sprinkle over the yeast and one teaspoon of sugar, and leave for 10 to15 minutes or until frothySummary sheet
4put the flour, the remaining sugar, salt and baking powder into a large bowlSummary sheet
5mix the dry ingredients together, then make a well in the centre and pour in the melted butter, yoghurt, nigella seeds and yeast mixtureSummary sheet
6stir the mixture well, then bringing it together with their handsSummary sheet
7knead the dough for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic but still softSummary sheet
8butter a large bowl, shape the dough into a ball and place in the bowl, then leave it in a warm place to riseSummary sheet
9divide the risen dough into six balls, and place them onto a baking tray dusted with flourSummary sheet
10heat a large non-stick frying panSummary sheet
11roll one of the balls of dough into a teardrop shape, approximately 21cm long and 13cm at the widest partSummary sheet
12dry fry the dough for approximately three minutes, until it puffs up, then turn and cook on the other side until cooked through and charred in patchesSummary sheet
