Applied General qualifications

Developed in collaboration with teachers, professional bodies and higher education institutions, our Applied General qualifications help learners to develop the fundamental knowledge and practical skills that are valued in universities and the workplace.

A variety of assessment types allow learners to apply their knowledge in a practical way, and an integrated approach to learning means they gain a broad variety of skills.

To find out more about our Applied General qualifications, see our introduction to Level 3 Applied General qualifications brochure.

For more information on how to manage these qualifications, see exams administration.

DfE 16 to 19 performance tables and UCAS tariff points

Our Applied General qualifications are included in the performance tables for technical and vocational qualifications aimed at students aged 16 to 19, as published by the Department for Education (DfE). They also attract UCAS tariff points.

They support 16-18 study programmes, providing a real alternative to A-levels and other vocational qualifications and supporting progression to higher education and higher apprenticeship.
