Following Ofqual’s announcement about changes to assessment in summer 2021, here’s what you need to know for FCSE Languages.
Please note: these changes only apply to assessment being completed this academic year.
No need to record speaking tests
For 2021 FCSE Full Course and 2021 FCSE Spoken Short Course in; Chinese (Mandarin - 8973 and 8971), French (8958 and 8956), German (8968 and (8966), and Spanish (8998 and 8996), schools no longer need to record one of the three Speaking tasks. This means you don’t need to submit any recordings as there’ll be no moderation of Speaking in 2021.
This change for FCSE is consistent with changes we’ve made to GCSEs in 2021, and will enable you to complete the three Speaking assignments with your students remotely, using online technology, if you choose.
No other changes
Students will still need to complete three Speaking tasks and details of the three Speaking tasks will need to be entered onto the Candidate Record Form (CRF). The 2021 CRF on the website should be used but the box for ‘unit number of the recorded Speaking task’ should be left blank.
