Changes for 2022
Because of the ongoing impacts of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, there are some changes to how our FCSE Full Course and FCSE Short Course will be assessed in 2022.
These changes are for 2022 only.
What you need to know
- No need to record speaking task
- Moderation as normal for reading, writing and listening tasks
- No advance information
No need to record speaking task
For 2022 FCSE Full Course and Spoken Short Course in French (8958 and 8956), German (8968 and (8966), Spanish (8998 and 8996) and Chinese (Mandarin) (8973 and 8971), schools no longer need to record one of the three speaking tasks. This means you don’t need to submit any recordings as there’ll be no moderation of speaking in 2022.
Students will still need to complete three speaking tasks and details of the three speaking tasks will need to be entered into the Candidate Record Form (CRF). Please use the 2022 CRF on the website and leave the box for ‘unit number of the recorded speaking task’ blank.
You may complete the three speaking assignments with your students remotely, using online technology, if you choose.
Moderation as normal for reading, writing and listening tasks
In summer 2022, there will be moderation as normal for reading, writing and listening tasks.
Only the speaking task will not have moderation.
No advance information
There will be no advance information on what exams will cover for FCSE Full course or FCSE Short Course.
