Reformed Functional Skills Mathematics has completed Ofqual's technical evaluation process

Thursday 4 Apr 2019

In September 2017  The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) announced their plans to reform all Functional Skills Qualifications, to improve the standards and comparability across awarding organisations.

We’re pleased to tell you that our new Functional Skills Maths Level 1 and Level 2 (8361, 8362) qualifications have completed Ofqual's technical evaluation process. They’ve been carefully designed to prepare learners for life and work, while creating a stepping stone to further studies, and they’re co-teachable with our GCSE Mathematics.

Here are the timings of what will be available and when for the current qualifications and the new qualifications:

  • First teaching of new qualifications (8361, 8362) – September 2019
  • Final first sitting of current qualifications (4367, 4368) – November 2019 providing the learner is registered for funding by 31/08/2019
  • Last opportunity to resit current qualifications (4367, 4368) –  November 2019
  • First opportunity to sit new qualifications (8361, 8362) – January 2020
