Following Ofqual’s announcement about summer 2021, here are the changes you need to know about. Please bear in mind that these changes apply to summer 2021 only.

Media product submissions

  • As well as accepting the submission of final products, we’ll also accept submission of prototypes/mock-ups with supporting evidence.
  • We’ve removed the current restriction on the use of non-original images, as these could form part of a valid supporting evidence of submissions.
  • We’ll amend the briefs to give you additional guidance on prototypes/mock-ups, and the required supporting evidence. Amended briefs are available on e-AQA.
  • The current marking criteria will be applied to both final products and prototypes, so this allows for any students who may have completed half of their cross-media production to submit the other half as a prototype with supporting evidence.

No other changes

Media 1 and Media 2 written exams remain unchanged.

The NEA marking criteria: as the current marking criteria are based around the application of the theoretical framework and not the technical production skills, we will not be amending the assessment criteria in the specifications.
