Changes for 2022

Because of the ongoing impacts of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, there are some changes to how A-level Environmental Science will be assessed in 2022.

These changes are for 2022 only.

What you need to know

  • Practicals can be studied through demonstrations
  • Fieldwork is not required, but strongly encouraged
  • Advance information on exams is available

Practicals can be studied through demonstrations

Students can observe demonstrations and simulations of practical activities to cover the required skills and techniques, if it is not possible to carry them out in person.

Demonstrations and simulations will provide effective learning opportunities to develop understanding of the skills required at this level.

Fieldwork not required

Students do not need to complete four days of fieldwork.

This means you do not need to submit a written statement to say that students have been given the opportunity to undertake four days of fieldwork.

Whilst it is not required, we still encourage you to provide as many fieldwork activities (or a mixture of fieldwork and lab-based activities) as possible.

Advance information on exams

To help students focus their exam preparation, we have released advance information on what exams will cover.

The advance information for A-level Environmental Science is available to view.
