AQA end of Year 10 science tests

We understand the importance of great assessment.

That’s why we’ve updated and extended our end of Year 10 science tests for spring 2018.

We’ve listened to your feedback on last year’s end of Year 10 science tests and we’ve been busy extending them to cover more of the specification.

The extended tests are free to download. Available at Foundation and Higher Tier, they’ll help you keep track of your students’ progress and plan interventions where necessary. You can view and download the tests, mark schemes and standardisation materials from Secure Key Materials (SKM) on e-AQA – use this guide to help you find them.

What's new in the 2018 tests

  • Papers are now one hour in length and are worth 60 marks.
  • Higher percentage of marks at grade 4–5 (common marks).
  • Tests are available for Biology, Chemistry and Physics, covering content that is common to Combined Science and the separate sciences.
  • Tests cover some extra topics: Bioenergetics (Biology), Energy changes (Chemistry) and Atomic structure (Physics).

There is also now an increased focus on the questions students appear to be struggling with, including application in unfamiliar contexts, extended response questions, and practicals.

Once you’ve marked the tests you’ll be able to enter your students’ results into Exampro’s free Mark Entry and Reporting Technology (MERiT). Instantly, you'll be able to see your students’ performance and start to identify gaps in learning. You can check their understanding of the content, and how they perform in different types of questions against our sample population.
