Supporting resources video transcript

The support you need to teach with confidence

Voice over:

We have been working in collaboration with teachers to develop the support you need to teach with confidence.

Laura Madsen: Head of Department

It would be good if I could get really great, free teaching resources and (laughs) linked to the spec, rather than me spending a long time trying to link it back.

All resources will be searchable by topic. So whether you are planning your course, teaching, getting ready for exams or evaluating your results, you will have resources you can quickly find at your fingertips. Many resources will be available both as PDF and printable web pages, to make them easy to use.

You will have resources to support you throughout the year, when you are planning your course, teaching, helping your students to get ready for exams or evaluating your results. We have updated our resources on the website, and we will continue to further develop a comprehensive package, so that you can focus on teaching.

Ben Ramsland: Head of Department

We were able to look at question by question results, analysing how students have done on individual questions and then trying to work out where we need to focus more. I need to know how well my students did, so that we can plan to improve in the future.

We understand how important this is, so you will have specimen question papers and mark schemes, as well as additional sample questions, student answers and examiner commentaries, all before the first exams, to help you understand what examiners are looking for. You will also have access to past papers, mark schemes, examiner feedback reports and teacher feedback meeting after the first exams have been sat, so that you can see what’s required at each grade.

Roger Reid: Head of Department

A lot of teachers are concerned, they do want to be sort of forearmed and prepared for what the change is going to be, so that it is not going to be a culture shock to when it comes to start teaching it. I don’t want to have to start from scratch with my teaching and lesson plans.

Voice over:

We want to make lesson planning easier, so there are great resources available to help. specification at a glance, a summary of changes to see what is new, what has changed and what has stayed the same, and outlined schemes to work to help with course planning.

If you are teaching A-level, there is also our guidance on co-teaching AS and A-levels.

Alex Larmour: Head of Department

Talking to someone is always going to be so much more beneficial, just having someone to talk through changes and answer queries, a bit more face-to-face, rather than having to read a comprehensive set of instructions. Most of all, I like to speak to someone to talk me through the changes, and answer my queries.

We have a team of subject experts for every new specification, who are always at the end of the phone. Our free launch meetings provide all you need to know about the new specifications and the support you can expect when you teach with us.

There are also free 'preparing-to-teach' meetings, to help you with course planning. These meetings are a mix of face-to-face and online, to fit in with your schedule.

Tom Allen: Teacher

As an 'NQT' myself, I have been through intensive training, and I am coming into the next year of my teaching where there will not be as intensive training available for me, so it is really important to keep my teaching in top shape and to keep pushing on with new approaches.
