GCSE Music Component 3: important NEA reminders for 2023

Published: Wednesday 29 Mar 2023

The time is approaching for you to submit your marks and samples for GCSE Music (8271/C) composition.

Please refer to our moderation guidance to support you as you make final preparations for your 2023 submission.

In addition to the guidance given on the checklist at the back of the moderation document, you can now submit your whole sample for composition moderation on a non-encrypted USB pen drive or CD. One USB pen drive/CD can include the work of all your students.

  • Please create a folder within the pen drive/CD for each student.
  • Each individual file must be clearly labelled with the name, candidate number and whether it is the 'brief' or 'free' composition.
  • All scores and candidate record forms, and the centre declaration sheet, can be in pdf format and we can accept both student and teacher signatures as typed signatures.
  • The audio must be included for each composition, preferably in .mp3 format, although .wav, .aiff and other audio formats that would play on any device are also acceptable.
  • Remember to listen to each audio file before sending the sample to ensure there are no errors.

The deadline to submit marks and samples is 7 May 2023.
